Blue Mist was pumped and excited to go over the bridge. No one else had ever tried to attempt to due this. They would go down in history. Blue Mist and her best friend Amita Asha. Then Blue Mist silently waited for her friend to arrive.

Asha's white small white form soon appeared along side Blue Mist's. She looked over at her and smiled excitedly. Then with a toss of her small cranium she cantered forward to begin crossing the bridge. Her mane and tail became silken cloud tinted banners in the breeze and her sky-hued optics shone with her excitement.

Athena blue optics were worried, it was in her nature to worry, especially about Blue Mist, though not her only filly, the only one she had left.

Don't worry mom we will be fine. Blue Mist loved her mother but she was getting older. She could understand though why her mother was so worried.
Blue Mist cantered over the bridge it was a sinch. But when she was over she heard a growl. Big, deep, and booming.

Her heart beat fast and then almost stopped at the sound of the growl and she quickly flared her nostrils to capture the scent and she turned around to the wide, yellow gold eyes of a mountain lion. She dropped to the ground and fell to her back yelling at Amita Asha and Blue Mist to do the same and to flail their legs in the air to hold it at bay

Blue Mist flaied her legs now seeing the mountain lion. The mountain lion was different then a regular one though. Blue Mist sensed she was a female, but she was pure black. Blue Mist stopped flaing some how feeling unafraid of this creature.
Who are you and what is your name?she asked the lion in a curious voice.

Just as one of her hooves almost caught the mountain lion in the head she stopped and stood warily, on guard, careful
She listened to its low, calm growls and relaxed

Blue Mist wanted to run back and tell her friend that this cat was harmless, but she wasn't so sure yet.

Terror growled. His last attemped to see food was... well... not the best. Hi thirst to taste blood was great. He hissed and leaped forward, hungry for blood.

A mountian lion, unheard of, jumped out. Darkwynd roared in anger at the horses. He was hungry for meat, and he was desperate. he jumped at the horses

Athena screamed loudly and leaped forward, she grabbed the mountain lion by the scruff and bit down, hard, directly into his neck, enough to draw a dangerous amount of blood

It roared in anger, and grabbed blue mist on the neck, biting, digging as deep as he could.

A rusty taste she wasn't accustomed to, a sharp smell that sent her quivering, the anger that filled her and the regret, all of it stored in her for too long now released for a mintue, her legs flashed, her pearly white teeth, now bllod-tinted, showed, her pitch black hooves just a flash she started to fiercely attack the mountain lion crying out
Why? Why?
She reared up for the final blow, that could, and if it hit would, end this beast's life, her daughter had claimed it fine, but Athena didn't believe that, she began the fall that could hit this mountain lion, that could save her daughter, but, just as easily, could not

The lion dodged, but the hooves smashed his rear back, breaking two shoulders of the back end. He roared, and jumped on her back, planting needle point teeth into the back of her nedck, scratching wildly, and trying to crush the vein of life.

Asha turned back from the other end of the bridge and saw they were having trouble. She galloped back and reared to strike at the lions black cranium, her eyes closed. She felt them hit something, her target?

The Cat's head smashed downward. The crackling of the cats skull could give a shiver to any horse. The cat fell motionless, body hitting the ground, nver to move agian.
