Blue Wings stepped into this land, tall redwoods stood high above his height of 16 hands. He lifted his slender neck in awe and respect. These trees were marvelous, the beauty of this whole land could be captured in one tree. He walked over to one of them, his white coat and the marvelous blue markings stood out against the red of the tree. He already loved the area, but he needed a home. Blue reared high into the air with a neigh. He called attention in his dramatic buck. His neigh said that he was looking for a light herd to call his home.

Amita Asha had left her herd for a short walk and found herself in the Claming Redwoods. She wandered around for a while before she spotted a horse. She walked over, thinking that this horse was alone and looked easy enough to make friends with. She troted over and said, [glow=red,2,300]"Hello my name is Amita Asha. I am a filly in Dew Tree. Who are you?"[/glow]

Blue looked down at the similarly hyed filly. She was much smaller than him, but she seemed friendly.
Hello, Amita Asha, I am blue Wings, but I prefer just plain Blue.And I suppose you'd call me loner of these lands. How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Feeling a little shy she asked, [glow=red,2,300]"If you don't mind, could you just call me Asha? I'm about 6 months old. How about you?"[/glow]

Of course, Asha, I am about 4. You're lucky to be young and free. I have to ask you though, where is your mother? He hoped he hadn't asked a painful question of the filly. He was a polite brute and kind to all other horses, but he was a sucker for foals.

[glow=red,2,300]"My mother is a show horse. She fell in love and mated with a Clydesdale stallion from another farm. My former owners abandoned me here without her."[/glow] Asha looked up and gave him a warm simile. She liked this stallion.

Oh, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to bring up painful memories. If it helps at all, I didn't have such an easy life eiter. My sire and dam were a famous showjumper and a sprint racer. They expected me to bge the best steeplechaser ever, but they were wrong. My sire was a sprinter and he had no enduracnce. My dam was no cross country jumper, she was a show jumper and had little endurance. I was not born with the endurance neccasary for what they had planned, and I could not be a racer since I wasn't purebred. A showjumper? Forget it, they just couldn't train me to show jump. They decided that the only thing I was good for, pulling their hoe. I didn't have the strenght to pull it but they didn't see that. After almost year I had pulled my last load. I fell and they thought I was dead. I was dragged to a field and abandoned there, half dead. I was found there by a mare who raised me and taught me. She left me here and well, here I am!
He smiled at the filly. Life was hard and so was finding friends. He didn't usually like to talk about his history, he hated words of sympathy, but he felt bad about bringing up memories for her.

Asha's eyes had widened slightly with horror as she listened to Blue's history. When he had finished all she could think of to say was, [glow=red,2,300]"Blue, it seems like we both had hard begginings but maybe because of that we can be friends."[/glow] It wasn't really a question but she hoped he would take the hint and ask to be friends.

[glow=red,2,300]A friend, I haven't had one of those in a long time... Yes, would you like to be friends? [/glow]
He hoped she would say yes. Despite their age difference he thought they could be friends.
Do you know what your mother's name is?
It seemed slim coincidence, but maybe they could be related some how, their histories were so much a like.

Yes, I love to be your friend. Asha haadn't been this happy since she found a herd and met Blue Mist. She couldn't belive she had made a new friend. She wasn't that good at those types of things. When she heard his next question though she quieted down a bit. [glow=red,2,300]"Sorry, no. I was taken from my mother before she told me."[/glow]

Oh, I believe my dam's name was Briar, for short.
He smiled down at the young filly, then saw that she didn't look as happy since he metioned her mother and felt instantly bad. He looked up the tall redwoods again.
Those trees are really something, aren't they?

[glow=red,2,300]"Yes they are,"[/glow] she said absentmindly. Something had stirred in her mind when Blue said that name. Briar, she thought to herself. Why does that sound so familiar? Suddenly a long-distant memory came to the surface. *Flashback* Two men walking past a fence. "Can't believe that Briar managed to jump that fence," one of them said. "Yeah well, she did," said the other one, "and the foal will have to go."[glow=red,2,300]"I remember,"[/glow]cried Asha. My mothers name was Briar! But if that's true then.... Her voice trailed of as she looked up at Blue. He was her half-brother! It was to incredible for her to think about.

Not just a freind, but a half-sister. that was almost too much to think about. He thought he would never see any member of his family again. He was excited about his newly found sisster.
[glow=red,2,300]"Do you think they were the same mare? I mean, is it possible that they were different?[/glow]
Her full name, that might help, I could just remember it...
[glow=red,2,300]Briar Thorn![/glow]
He cried
[glow=red,2,300]That was her full name.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"They are the same mare! That was my mothers full name!"[/glow]She couldn't believe she had a brother in the Redwoods. It had been so tramatising when she was taken from her family, thinking that there was no one else. Now she had a brother. She moved over to Blue and gently leaned on his side. She would never see her mother again, but shehad a brother. That was good enough. Suddenly a thought struck her and she asked,[glow=red,2,300]"Blue, do you have a home?"[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]No Asha, I don't have a home. Do you?[/glow] He was excited and happy. When he had been left in this land by the mare who had adopted him he never thought he would ever find a friend like that. Now he had not only a friend, but also a sister. He wrapped his head protectively around his little sister's small frame. He was in awe. Life was never perfect before, so why now? All he knew was that he was happy that life turned around for once, and, hopefully, for all.
When you make new friends In a brand new town, And you start to think About settling down, The things that would have been lost on you Are now clear as a bell. And you find yourself That’s when you find yourself.

[glow=red,2,300]"Yes, I have a home with the Dew Tree Herd but if you don't have a home, maybe you could come home with me."[/glow]She felt her brother wrap his head around her smally body and she moved alittle closer to him. She was hopeful that he might want to come home with her.

[glow=red,2,300]I would love to come to your home. Who else is in this herd?[/glow]
He asked her, curiouusly. They must be quite a site, a tall and slender stallion with his head wrapped around a small filly.

[glow=red,2,300]Oh, that must have been hard for the family.I would love to come to this Dew Tree with you, lead the way.[/glow] He lifted his head. He knew how hard it must have been for the family to lose a member that was so important to them.

Asha gave Blue a warm, happy smile and moved off in the direction of Dew Tree. She couldn't wait to introduce the others to Blue.
